Classic Singles: Wonderwall

BBC Radio 2: In a short series celebrating classic singles, respected record producer Tony Visconti considers the 1995 Oasis hit, Wonderwall.

The above video was originally edited together over a year ago but never uploaded due to copyright issues. The audio is taken from the Classic Singles series that featured on BBC Radio 2. It's an excellent look back at the making of the single and it's impact at the time.

"I think the working title of this was Wishing Stone for a long time, which to think about it now is nonsense." ~ Noel Gallagher, Time Flies 1994-2009

An interesting fact that wasn't mentioned in the video was the story of the sleeve artwork of the single:

"...originally Liam was the person seen through the picture frame. I had sent a message to Marcus Russell, Oasis’s manager, to tell him and Noel about the shoot, a message he obviously didn’t receive. Mid shoot, and this is totally true, Noel just happened purely by chance to be passing in a taxi!! Next thing you know an irate Noel Gallagher jumps out the taxi which screeched to halt and shouted ‘What the fuck’s going on here?’ he put a halt to proceedings saying it had to be a girl in the shot!" ~ Brian Cannon, Art director.

The girl that appears on the cover is Creation Records employee Anita Heryet, who was asked to stand in as cover star for the shot.

Noel debuted the song on UK TV, backstage at Glastonbury and broadcast on Channel 4 on 24 June 1995. The song wasn't performed by the band during their headline performance the night before.

Jeff Buckley: Rarities From NYC *UPDATED*

"Rarities From NYC" is a collection of unreleased demo recordings and radio sessions from Jeff Buckley. I know very little about the original collection of song contained in a folder entitled "Rarities From NYC" that surfaced sometime around 2005. I can not find a tracklist or even confirm how many tracks were in the original file (I read somewhere there were at least fourteen). A post on the blogspot: "I Am Fuel, You Are Friends" shines a light on some of the tracks.

My collection contains as many of the original tracks as I could find, from multiple sources (I always try and get the highest possible quality/bitrate I can find) plus a few rarities and couple of bonus tracks.

Updated 31/03/16: I've now combined both my original upload and the revisited version to create this new improved collection of tracks. I've removed the studio demo of I Know It's Over as it is now available on the album You & I but I have added three "sketches" which were previously missing. I've also sucessfully removed the glitch from the radio promo version of Last Goodbye.

Part One
01 - When The Levee Breaks
02 - I Know We Could Be So Happy Baby (If We Wanted To Be) (Alt. Take)
03 - Forget Her (Alt. Take)
04 - All Flowers In Time (ft. Elizabeth Fraser)
05 - When My Love Comes Down
06 - Untitled (The Man I Am)
07 - You & I (Guitar Version)
08 - Opened Once (Instrumental)
09 - River Of Dope
10 - Mood Swing Whiskey
11 - Witches Rave
12 - Your Flesh Is Nice
13 - Let's Bomb The Moonlight
14 - Peace Offering
15 - Thousand Fold

Part Two: Live Tracks and Other Rarities
16 - Last Goodbye (WHFS Radio Promo Version 11.06.95) - Glitch Fixed
17 - I Woke Up In A Strange Place (Live on 'Idiots Delight', WXRK Radio 17.12.95)
18 - Lover, You Should've Come Over (Live on 'Idiots Delight', WXRK Radio 17.12.95)
19 - All Flowers In Time (Live at Selina's, Coogee Bay Hotel 01.03.96)
20 - Lilac Wine Ft. Nina Simone (Marco Rigamonti Rai Tunes Remix)
21 - Opened Once (Marco Rigamonti Remix)
